Internationalization Projects A350-2020-35764
The project idea is based on the international promotion of fast and modular charging systems that are both “smart” and “universal” for applications involving the effective management of energy storage, such as smart energy stations in the telecommunications sector, fast charging stations in the automotive sector, residential photovoltaic systems with storage and, more generally, all systems requiring modular energy storage.
For the development of the internationalization project, 3 different application scenarios were evaluated: telecommunications, Fast EV Charge Automotive/Vehicular and residential PV systems with storage. In particular, we focused our attention on the first scenario and on the launch of the related business model, capable of supporting the initial commercialization of the system.
In the telecommunications sector, the “SPIN” system, through optimal management of energy storage, no longer used merely as a backup, would make it possible to “release” the primary source at scheduled intervals and power the various transmission devices using battery energy. The released energy could be “resold” to the operator, thereby generating revenues. However, the systems currently used in the telecommunications sector are not yet capable of managing either high charge/discharge cycles or the complete and, moreover, safe management of the energy station.
In the Fast EV Charge Automotive/Vehicular sector, for example, the ultimate objective of the “SPIN” system is to enable the possible integration of different charging methods — conductive and inductive charging across different types of vehicles: buses, cars, bicycles and motorcycles (universal) — while providing a range of value-added IoT-based services (smart), such as intelligent localization of the nearest charging station, status and monitoring of the distribution network, innovative authentication and billing systems (wallet), charging station reservation, etc. Charging methods essentially concern the type of current received by the vehicle (direct current, single-phase alternating current or three-phase alternating current), its voltage (for alternating current, this essentially ranges from 110V single-phase to 480V three-phase), the presence or absence of grounding and control lines to enable one-way or two-way communication between the charging station and the vehicle, as well as the presence and location of a protection device.
Finally, in the field of residential PV systems with storage, the SPIN system can ensure the reuse of stored energy, increasing revenues thanks to the high number of life cycles. Peer-to-peer exchange systems will be examined and studied, in which blockchain algorithms will be implemented as the basis of the purchase and sale transaction processes in order to ensure the integrity of the related energy/financial transactions.
A key step in promoting the proposed solutions will be participation in industry trade fairs and the organization of promotional events. The potential events in which it will be possible to participate include: WETEX, Dubai (October 2020) Objectives of the internationalization project and expected results.
The overall objective of the SPIN internationalization project is to present Braga Moro’s entire range of Smart Energy solutions on the international market in order to identify potential industrial partners.
More specifically, the main objectives to be pursued through the SPIN internationalization project are:
- Identify potential “System Integrators and Distributors” by targeting the broad range of operators in the energy sector, particularly in the Middle Eastern market.
- Raise awareness of the potential and unique features of SPIN systems among prospective users (residential photovoltaic and mobility markets).
- Generate for users the traditional benefits associated with the efficient reuse of stored energy from a circular economy perspective, including energy savings and environmental protection.
The expected results at the end of the project in the short term (1 year) are:
- Identification of at least 3 “System Integrators and Distributors” with whom agreements can be established (possibly also on an exclusive basis for a specified period) for the commercialization and distribution of Braga Moro solutions.
- Consolidation of the brand among the main operators in the energy and mobility sectors.
- Creation of additional development opportunities in the IoEnergy sector.
The medium- to long-term results (2-5 years) following completion of the project can be summarized as follows:
- Annual revenues of over €1.5 million through full-scale sales of solutions and licenses for more than 500 systems.
- Annual revenues of approximately €120K from second-level support services for the installed base.
- Additional revenues resulting from further contracts in the smart mobility and energy storage sectors.
- Optimization of production costs.
- Increase in employment levels (an additional 8 full-time equivalent resources employed in the medium term).
